CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
As the result of a recently announced retirement, a unique opportunity to work in a small rural municipality in northern Alberta is available.
The Municipal District of Peace No. 135 is located immediately west of the Town of Peace River. With a current population of 1,747, the Municipal District is an agricultural based municipality with a mix of oil and gas development, industrial development, tourism and several multi-parcel country residential subdivisions. The Municipality contains 1 hamlet, 92,488 hectares of land, approximately 560 kilometres of roads and currently has 11 permanent with as many as 10 additional seasonal employees.
Council is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer with a customer based focus who will oversee the overall administration of the M.D., including the implementation and delivery of programs and services that are approved by Council, and who will ensure that these programs and services are delivered to all residents and ratepayers in a professional manner that makes efficient and effective use of the human, financial and physical resources of the Municipality. The C.A.O. performs all duties and exercises the powers and functions assigned by all applicable legislation or as directed by Council.
The ideal candidate will possess superior communication and leadership skills while developing positive relationships with the public and the Municipality’s regional partners. Experience in a municipal government environment or in a senior management position in a non-governmental organization coupled with appropriate post-secondary education is preferred. The successful candidate should possess a sound knowledge of municipal finance and proven budgeting experience.
