Fire Permits are Required for the MD

Fire Permit Required:

The Municipal District of Peace No.135 requires Fire Permits as per Fire Protection Bylaw No. 8/2023.

If you do not have access to email:

If you are wishing to burn brush piles you MUST:

  1. Complete the fire permit request form and bring it into the office or mail it to us along with pictures of what you are burning.  If you are coming into the office we can help you fill it out and print it for your signature.
  2. If the fire will be located within 1/2 mile of a numbered highway, you will need smoke signs posted. Call Alberta Transportation at 780-624-6280 or LaPrairie Grimshaw at 780-332-4452 for signage.
  3. Contact our fire department’s dispatch at 780-538-0393 and advise them of:

a) your legal location where burning is occurring
b) the date you will be starting the fires
c) how long you expect the fires to burn
d) your name and phone number for future contact.
(This information may prevent unnecessary trips by our volunteer fire departments.)

4. It is recommended that there be a water source available at the burn site as well.

If you have access to email:

  1.  You can bring the completed form into the office, mail it to us or email it to admin@mdpeace.com.  Along with the form, please provide pictures of what you will be burning.   We will issue the fire permit if possible and email it back to you.  When you are ready to start your controlled burn you will be able to reply all to the email to notify our fire department you are starting.
