Join us in congratulating Paul, Sherri, Lain, and Garret Franz for being selected for a 2023 BMO Farm Family Award from Farmfair International. The award celebrates outstanding families who best represent positive family farm values, farming practices, and community involvement within their rural community.
“We were very honored to be nominated and selected for the Farm Family Award – it was a really proud moment for our family,” says Paul Franz.
The Franz family are third-generation farmers who own and operate a family farm with a cowherd of 150, and 2600 acres of land utilized for grain, hay and pasture. Paul, Sherri and their two sons are passionate about agriculture and have been long-time members and supporters of 4-H programs locally, regionally and provincially since 2015. They have also been involved with the Grimshaw Stampede, East Grimshaw Water Co-op, Grimshaw Agricultural Society, Gators Swim Club and the school hot lunch program.
“Farming makes the world go around, and it’s important to us to be involved and give back through 4-H and the agriculture society” says Paul.
The Franz family was celebrated in a special ceremony in Edmonton on November 10, 2023 where they received a congratulatory plaque. The Franz family was nominated for the award by the MD of Peace No. 135 Council, and Councillor Theresa Johnson attended the ceremony on behalf of Council.
“Congratulations on receiving this meaningful award and for all the ways you serve to better our region and the agriculture sector,” says Robert Willing, MD of Peace No. 135 Reeve.
