Thanks to the generosity of TC Energy, the MD of Peace will host a FireSmart Awareness information event and free barbecue at the Village of Berwyn Mainstreet Celebration on August 24, 2024. TC Energy provided $2,840 in grant funding to support a FireSmart community awareness event. Firefighters will be in attendance to answer questions and hand out FireSmart giveaway items, and staff from the Grimshaw Co-op will assist with the barbecue.
Following a devastating 2023 fire season and upon the recommendation of CAO Margaret McClarty, in October of 2023, Council voted to launch a FireSmart Awareness Campaign to increase awareness regarding fire safety as a proactive means to educate residents and encourage them to eliminate fire hazards on their property. This BBQ event is a part of this awareness campaign.
