The Municipal District of Peace No. 135 is located in the beautiful Peace region, with ample opportunity for fishing, hunting, camping, golfing and numerous winter activities. With a current population of 1,581, the Municipal District is an agricultural based rural municipality with a mix of oil and gas development, industrial development, recreational areas and an increasing number of country residential acreages and subdivisions. The Municipality contains 1 hamlet, 92,488 hectares of land, approximately 560 kilometres of roads and currently has 12 permanent with as many as 10 additional seasonal employees.
If you’re looking for an exciting and challenging career opportunity, the Municipal District of Peace No. 135 will be hiring a Chief Administrative Officer, who will report to the Reeve and 4 councillors. This management position is responsible for implementing council’s vision, providing leadership to a small but dedicated staff and overseeing the administrative operations of the Municipality.
Council is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer with superior communication and leadership skills and a customer based focus, who will implement and deliver programs and services that are approved by Council, in a professional and objective manner. The CAO performs all duties and exercises the powers and functions assigned by all applicable legislation or as directed by Council.
The ideal candidate will ensure that residents and ratepayers receive high quality municipal services and will also develop strong relationships with the Municipality’s regional partners. The ideal candidate should possess a certificate in Local Government Administration and experience in a municipal government environment or in a senior management position in a non-governmental organization coupled with appropriate post-secondary education. It is important that the successful candidate have a comprehensive understanding of financial and budgeting processes.
